EXERCISE:

INSTRUCTIONS: Is this a correct compound sentence? Choose yes or no.

1. I will go ice-skating or you will come with me? (YES/NO)

(This is a correct compound sentence. The connecting word 'before' is used to join together two actions, which happened one after the other.)

6. If you are quick you'll catch the bus. (YES/NO)
(This is a correct compound sentence. The connecting word 'if' is used to join together two closely connected ideas, with the second part of the sentence a result of the first.)

8. I put on my sunglasses although it was too bright. (YES/NO)
(This compound sentence does not make sense. The connecting word 'because' should be used instead of 'although'. The connecting word 'because' is used to join together two actions, with the second part of the sentence a result of the first part.)

9. He sat down and he was tired. (YES/NO)
